Obituary of David Tilden Richards

David Tilden Richards passed on April 21, at the age of 46.  He was born on August 12, 1977, in Camarillo, California to Sutter Creek native Tilden David Richards and Susan Richards. 

Proceeded in death by his parents, David is survived by his spouse, Loren Lemons; his three stepsons, Dane, Spencer, and Garrett; his aunts, Sheila Wakida, and Cheryl Richards; his cousins, Chuck Hayes, Shelly Richards, Kimberly Richards, and Christopher Richards; nieces, Dayton Hayes, Anna Richards, Allie Richards and nephews Logan, Drake, and Anthony Richards.

An Amador High School alumni (95'), David went on to attend George Washington University earning an undergraduate degree in Business with a focus in International Studies. As a high school exchange student, David lived in Japan for several years mastering the language. After college he served as an assistant to the Mayor of Toyohashi Prefecture. Upon his return from Japan, he attended the University of Pacific Law School earning his Jurisprudence Degree.  

David was also an avid pilot and accomplished aviator. He obtained his Private Pilot’s license at a very young age, training at Amador County's Westover Field.  He also worked as an international flight attendant for United Airlines for well over a decade.  His passion for travel, language and food was unparalleled. Those fortunate enough to share a meal prepared by David were never disappointed. 

David provided so many of us with a glimpse of what life could be. The experiences he obtained for himself and his friends traveling the globe are of legend. He opened the hearts and minds of so many people, showing them places and cultures most of us only read about in books or longingly watch in film. He lived those stories. He was an intrepid, passionate, and beautiful soul taken far too soon.

A celebration of David's life is scheduled for July 27th at the Italian Picnic Grounds from noon to 4:00 pm.
