Obituary of Barbara Joyce Blackburn

Barbara Blackburn, born September 23, 1945, in Whittier CA, passed away April 7, 2023, in Jackson CA at the age of 77 surrounded by family. She is survived by her sisters, Phyllis Anderson (Earl) and Margie Harvey. Stepson Russell Blackburn (Jennie) and beloved grandchildren Sydney, Roscoe & Samuel. She will be dearly missed by nieces Laurie Coghlan and Sandy Miller and nephews David Coghlan and Ken Harvey. Also, numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews survive this wonderful aunt.

Barbara’s family moved from the Los Angeles area to Caruthers CA in January of 1950 where Barbara and her sisters grew up, went to school, married, and went on with life. While her sisters moved away, Barbara remained in the area eventually retiring from the Caruthers Unified School District as Business Mgr./Director of Business Services in 2001. In 2005 Barbara moved to Jackson to be closer to her sisters who had both settled in the area. She became an avid golfer and for many years served as the Captain of the Castle Oaks Women’s Golf Club, at the same time, she was Treasurer of the Mace Meadow’s Women’s Club, making many friends along the way.
