Obituary of David Allen Best

Dave passed to on to his next fishing trip suddenly this week. Born in Columbus, OH, he moved with his family to Fremont early in life. A successful and enthusiastic football player, always athletic and lover of the outdoors. He began his own family in Fremont, CA, having three children with his first wife, Kathleen, and then moved soon after to Capitola, closer to his passion of surfing and fishing, where he owned and operated a small market. Dave loved Santa Cruz, a great fit for him to raise three boys. He spent the better part of 25 years, married to his second wife, Isabel. A member of the Grocers Union, he enjoyed a cool beer, great fish stories with a hearty laugh and a smile that would light up the room. Dave loved his family dearly and was a devoted husband. He and Isabel eventually settled in Pioneer, CA., where life was a little more suitable, quiet, and closer to nature. He took great pride in keeping his tomato plants healthy in summer and cords of wood neatly stacked in preparation for winter. Dave and Isabel would venture to Reno, to see concerts and skied at Iron Mountain and Kirkwood. He worked at the Jackson Rancheria Casino until his retirement. Dave is survived by his wife of 50 years, Isabel Best; brother, Rob Best; his children, Scott, Jacob, Tony, and Keely; grandchildren, Ashley, Bradley, and Anthony; great grandchildren, Shaun, Madeline, Marley, Benjamin, and Scarlet. As well as extended family Quinn, Kelsey and many more. He is dearly missed. There will be a viewing at Daneri Mortuary, Jackson, CA.
