Phillip Mead

Obituary of Phillip Edward Mead

Phillip Edward Mead unexpectedly passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022, in Somerset, CA at the age of 63 years old. He was born in Columbus, OH on October 11, 1958, a son of the late Anna Louise (Devault) and Charles Milton Mead. Phil loved nature, the quiet of a running creek, the mountains with the smell of the pine trees, the funny shapes of clouds in the sky floating past, the cold crisp feel of a snowy clear night, his time in the 101st Airborne, Army, and his love for his country. He was friends with all he met and only wanted to leave a little piece of his humor with them, but he was a private person. He loved to play the harmonica, listened to the blues, pan for gold, go shooting and exploring on his mine in Nevada with his family. He loved to give any knowledge that he could to anyone that needed it, especially to his kids and grandkids. He absolutely loved animals and would go out of his way to interact with them. His children would call him "Doctor Dolittle" as he would always talk to them like he knew what they wanted; it was amazing to watch. The biggest love of his life was his family, he went out of his way to be the "Grumpy Grandpa", but his love for family ran so deep that we all knew the truth. He may not be with us physically anymore, but his love has a permanent place in our hearts, and we will love him forever. Phillip is survived by his wife Barbara Mead of Ione, CA; three daughters, Shannon (Troy) Morrison of Perry, ME, Shaleen (Homer) Daniel of Ione, CA, and Crystal (Ryan) Pedersen, of Ione, CA; son, Shane Sipple of Ione, CA; Phillip is also survived by a sister, Terry (Gary) Schwartz of Pensacola, FL; two brothers, Dan (Luba) Mead of Newark, England and Jeff (Lisa) Mead of Hartford, WV; grandchildren, Cameron, Lance, Dillon, Derrick, Makayla, Colby, Aaliyah, Trevin, Blaisen, and Remington; as well as great grandchildren, Abigail and Sophia.
